The Strelitzia Nicolai is also known as Bird of Paradise plant. This plant is one of the most popular houseplants at the moment. The Strelitzia is originally from South Africa and can tolerate light well. A location in direct sunlight is no problem for the Strelitzia. In summer, watch out for the hot afternoon sun and keep the soil well moist. A little shade is no problem. Make sure that the Strelitzia gets at least 4 hours of sunlight per day. The Strelitzia is a large plant and needs a lot of water, especially in summer. The plant grows best when the potting soil is slightly moist. In winter the Strelitzia still needs water once a week.
